Raising The Bar: An Interviewing Skills Workshop

Panelists Nicole Hancock Husband, Vice President, Human Resources Warner Bros. Television, and Traci Blackburn, Head Deputy Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, presented a workshop to demystify legal interviews and provide insight on how employers in the public and private legal sectors make hiring decisions. Attendees learned how to distinguish themselves in a competitive job market to land the job and scholarship opportunities they desire.

BWL Hosts First Ever Virtual Installation of Officers Ceremony

On Saturday, September 12, 2020, the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles installed Michelle L. Kazadi as its President for the 2020-2021 board year. The Installation & Awards Ceremony was held as a Virtual Event for the first time ever, and was an inspiring evening for all who viewed it online. BWL thanks all the sponsors who helped make the event such a success.

“Honoring Our Legacy of Resilience, Pride and Community Engagement” will be the theme and foundation for the organization under Michelle’s leadership. BWL is excited and looks forward to what Michelle and the 2020-2021 Board of Officers will accomplish this upcoming year!

BWL Issues Statement Demanding Immediate Change After Recent Killings of Unarmed Black People

Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc. (BWL) is deeply saddened and disturbed by the recent deaths of three unarmed Black men and women. We honor the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and pray that their families, friends and loved ones find comfort and peace in this time of grief.
