Installation & Awards Gala 2023

On September 30th, the Black Women Lawyers, Inc. hosted our 48th Annual Installation and Awards Dinner at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles. The event was a momentous occasion, bringing together legal professionals, esteemed community leaders, and supporters to celebrate the accomplishments of the outgoing board and welcome the incoming board. Under the inspiring leadership of President Ronni Whitehead Otieno, the theme for this year is "From Vision to Reality: Dream Big, Push Boundaries, and Make History."

President Otieno delivered a powerful message of hope, resilience, and inspiration, challenging everyone present to persevere in the face of adversity. She also expressed her commitment to increasing membership and fostering a strong and inclusive community within Black Women Lawyers, Inc. A significant highlight of the evening was the recognition and honoring of three exceptional trailblazing women who have made significant contributions to their respective fields.

Mayor Karen Bass, the first black woman elected Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, was celebrated for her groundbreaking achievements and commitment to public service. Dean Franita Tolson, a voting rights expert and the first black woman to serve as Interim Dean at USC Gould School of Law, received well-deserved recognition for her groundbreaking work in legal education. Additionally, Adrienne Logan, a distinguished Global Corporate Counsel, was honored for her exemplary achievements in the corporate sector.
